My Home Workout Story:
I Don’t Have Money
I Don’t Have Time
Can I Really Get In Shape?
That’s the question I asked myself about a year ago, at the beginning of my home workout journey. After several years of working full time while going to school for a career change and trying to maintain a relationship, life had gotten pretty crazy.
I wasn’t taking good care of my body. I was eating too much fast food and exercising very little. One day, I stepped on the scale:
“231 pounds?!?”
A few years before, I had returned from a three month surfing adventure weighing around 190. At that time, I felt lean, fit, and full of energy.
After gaining around 40 pounds, I felt fat, slow, hungry, and in need of a nap!
I had less and less energy for the things I used to enjoy.
Was this weight gain and loss of energy just an inevitable part of aging? I had entered my late 20s, and I had read how most people gain weight as their metabolism slows and they slowly exit the ‘prime’ of their life.
I saw this in my friends. They had quickly gotten fat and lost their youthful vitality as the demands of work, family, and relationships overwhelmed them.
I knew that if I didn’t change anything, I would continue to slide down this slippery slope of weight gain, lack of energy, and eventually health problems like heart disease and diabetes.
I had to find a way out.
I thought, “What are my options?”
To make things more complicated, I was suddenly unemployed and living off of my savings. I didn’t have money to join a gym, let alone pay for a personal trainer, special equipment, or supplements. To top it off, even without a job, I was still so busy that I had, at most, 30 minutes of free time a day for a home workout.
I was overwhelmed. With so little time and resources, how could I get fit?
I then asked myself an important question:
“Did I gain 40 pounds overnight?”
The answer was, of course,
“No!”
I gained that weight little by little, day by day.
I decided that’s how I would get back in shape.
I made a commitment to take small, consistent steps towards getting fit, starting at where I was at the moment.
After doing a little bit of research, I realized that working out 30 minutes or less, a few times per week, was MORE than enough to get back into shape. By combining these exercise efforts with some changes in diet, I could make this happen!
So that’s what I did.
No gimmicks, no fad diets, no ‘secrets.’
Well, actually, the secret is this: make consistent effort toward your goal, and you will succeed!
Just chip away, day by day, week by week.
A little over a year later, I have lost nearly 30 pounds, gained muscle, strength, and energy, and feel like I am in the best shape of my life!
So, here for you on this website is all the information I have used to accomplish this over the past year.
I don’t have all the answers, but I will present what has worked for me. Try it for yourself. If it works, great! If not, try something else!
But either way, make a commitment to transform yourself. And, realize from the beginning that it’s not going to happen overnight.
Take your time, but get busy!
Good luck!
