Make a Door Mount

For Your DIY Suspension Trainer

Are you trapped inside? You can make a door mount for your DIY suspension trainer using a short piece of nylon webbing.

Here’s how…

(NOTE: Be safe! Although this mount is sturdy in my experience, I would recommend choosing a very strong, solid door to mount this piece of equipment to.

Also, make sure there is nothing around that you would hit your head on, should the mount or door fail.

With that said, I weigh over 200 pounds and haven’t had any problems using this mounting system on doors. )

Take your nylon webbing and put the free end through the cinch strap.

(If you just have webbing and no cinch strap, make a loop in it by tying a bowline (click for detailed instructions).

Tie a couple overhand knots near the cinch strap as shown.

This will help make sure the loop doesn’t come undone while you’re using it, and keeps the cinch strap from damaging the door.

Drape the looped strap over the open door, close to the hinges if possible to reduce the leverage on the hinges.

Close the door, make sure the loop is pulled tight.

It’s best to have the loop set up so that it is pulling the door closed, instead of having it pull the door open.

Make sure you lock the door and/or tell people in the house to not use the door while you are using this setup.

And then, throw your suspension trainer handles through the loop and get busy!
